Who we are

Dossier is a mobile application developed by Kinetic Origin LLC ("Kinetic Origin," "we," "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how. It applies to the Dossier apps for iOS and Android.

Data stored on your device

The following are stored only on your device. Some of it is transmitted when you choose to run an AI feature — see "Data sent to AI providers" below. Stored locally is not the same as never sent, so this policy spells out the difference rather than blurring it:

• Your resume — imported text and structured resume data, stored in the app's local database.
• Applications and notes — the jobs you track, their status, and anything you write.
• Interview transcripts — the text of your spoken practice answers. Stored on your device; the text of an answer is sent for scoring when you ask for feedback.
• Search history and preferences — recent analyses and app settings.

This information is held in on-device storage (SQLite) and is removed when you delete the app.

Data sent to AI providers

Dossier's AI features work by sending your text to third-party AI services for processing. Nothing is sent until you grant permission in the app. The first time you use an AI feature, Dossier shows you what will be sent and who receives it, and asks you to agree. You can decline and keep using job search and application tracking, and you can withdraw permission at any time under Profile → AI data sharing.

What is sent, and when

• Your resume text — when you import a resume (to parse it into fields), request a resume review, tailor your resume to a job, generate a cover letter, or view a match score. A resume typically contains your name, email address and phone number, so treat this as personal data being transmitted.
• Job-description text — when you analyze a job.
• Your interview answers — the text of your typed or spoken answers, when you request punctuation cleanup or scored feedback.

Only the text the requested feature needs is sent, and only at the moment you request it. We do not attach your name, email or any account identifier to the request — there is no account, so we do not have one.

Who receives it

• Anthropic, PBC (Claude) — resume parsing and review, resume tailoring, cover letters, job-description analysis, interview question generation, transcript cleanup, and interview feedback.
• Novita AI (Llama) — the resume-to-job match score shown alongside a job analysis.

How they may use it

• Each provider processes the text solely to return the result you asked for, acting on Kinetic Origin's instructions as our service provider.
• Your text is not used to train models, is not sold, and is not shared with employers or any other third party.
• Kinetic Origin does not store the text after the response is returned. For job analyses we cache the derived analysis and a one-way hash of the job description, never the raw text of your resume or answers.
• Both providers are bound by contractual terms requiring data protection equivalent to the commitments in this policy, including confidentiality, security safeguards, and use limited to providing the service.

Transmission is over an encrypted HTTPS connection, routed through Kinetic Origin's Cloudflare Worker.

On-device voice

Interview practice uses on-device speech recognition (speech-to-text) and text-to-speech. Audio of your voice never leaves your device — no recording is uploaded, and the speech components need no internet connection. The resulting text transcript is a different matter: when you ask for punctuation cleanup or scored feedback, that text is sent to an AI provider as described above. An earlier version of this policy said transcripts were never uploaded; that was inaccurate, and this corrects it.

Anonymous usage statistics

Dossier records a small set of first-party usage events so we can tell whether the app is working: app opened, onboarding finished, first job viewed, first analysis run, an application tracked, a usage limit reached, the upgrade screen viewed, and a subscription started. Each event is an event name and a timestamp, attached to the random device token described under "Subscriptions" — never to your name, your email, or any account.

What is never included: your resume, job-description text, interview answers, notes, or anything else you write. The events record that a feature ran, never what you put into it.

These statistics stay with Kinetic Origin on our own Cloudflare infrastructure. There are no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in the app, no advertising identifiers, and nothing is shared with data brokers or ad networks.

Email updates (optional)

You can subscribe to the Dossier newsletter from our website. This is entirely separate from the app: the app never asks for your email address, and you can use every feature without one.

• What we collect — the email address you type in, plus the date and time you confirmed. Nothing else; we do not ask for your name.
• Double opt-in — after you submit the form we email you a confirmation link. You receive nothing until you click it, so an address entered by someone else never gets mail.
• What we send — the newsletter, which decodes job-listing language, plus occasional Dossier product news. Nothing else, and no third-party advertising.
• Who processes it — Brevo (Sendinblue), our email provider, stores the list and delivers the messages on our instructions as our service provider. It is not used for their own purposes.
• Unsubscribing — every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and each message includes Kinetic Origin's postal address as the law requires. You can also email support@kineticorigin.com and we will remove you.
• Deletion — unsubscribing stops the mail; ask us and we will delete the address from the list entirely.

Your subscription is never connected to your use of the app. There is no account to link it to, the app never transmits your email address to the list, and we cannot tell which subscribers are Dossier users.

Subscriptions

Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled by Apple or Google — we never see your card details. To enforce subscription limits, the app uses an anonymous device token (stored in the device keychain/keystore) and the Qonversion SDK for receipt validation. This token is not linked to your identity.

What we do not do

• No accounts, sign-ups, or passwords — in the app there is nothing to register for. (The website newsletter is optional and separate; see "Email updates" above.)
• No advertising and no ad SDKs.
• No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Our own anonymous usage events are described under "Anonymous usage statistics" above.
• No selling of personal information, ever. We do transmit the text you submit to the AI providers named above, with your permission, solely to produce your result — a service provider relationship, not a sale or an onward disclosure.
• No location tracking.

Third parties

Dossier relies on a small number of infrastructure providers strictly to deliver the service:

• Cloudflare — hosts the API that processes AI requests. Text is processed transiently and not retained.
• Anthropic, PBC and Novita AI — the AI providers that process the text you submit. See "Data sent to AI providers" above for what each receives and how it may be used.
• Apple / Google / Qonversion — handle in-app purchases and subscription validation.
• Brevo — stores the website newsletter list and delivers those emails. It receives an email address only if you subscribe, and receives nothing at all from the app.

These providers process data only to perform their function, under terms requiring protection equivalent to this policy. Apart from the resume, job-description and interview text described above, they receive no personal identifiers from Dossier.

Children

Dossier is a productivity tool for job seekers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your control

Because your data lives on your device, you're in control: delete individual applications, your resume, or transcripts inside the app, or remove all data by deleting the app. You can withdraw permission for AI data sharing at any time under Profile → AI data sharing, which stops any further text being sent. Manage or cancel a subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings. If you joined the newsletter, the unsubscribe link in any email removes you from the list.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
